WELCOME TO APPU SERICULTURE FARMING

THREADBARE | SPINNING GOLD

Hey guys !!! hope your doing good. This the website where you can see the sericulture farming and its the farming where we convert coocon into silk. The main species used in sericulture is the domesticated silkworm, Bombyx mori.

    PRODUCTION PROCESS
  • Mulberry Cultivation: Silkworms feed exclusively on mulberry leaves. Cultivating mulberry trees is the first step.
  • Production: Silk moths lay eggs, which hatch into silkworm larvae.
  • Larval Stage: The larvae are fed mulberry leaves for about 25-30 days, during which they molt several times.
  • Cocoon Spinning: Once the larvae are fully grown, they spin cocoons around themselves using silk threads produced by their salivary glands.
  • Harvesting: The cocoons are harvested, and the pupae inside are typically killed to extract the silk threads.
  • Reeling: The cocoons are boiled to soften the sericin (the protein holding the silk fibers together), and the silk threads are unwound in a process called reeling.
  • Processing: The raw silk threads are then processed, dyed, and woven into textiles.
